El Salvador. Enrichment blanket. Chalcocite and
chrysocola. (40X) Even in the smallest quartz veins chalcopyrite is being replaced by chacocite. In the parent feldspar crystals alteration too sericite/kaoline releases silica which combines with copper from chalcopyrite and Cu in solution to form chrysocolla. The deep blue color of the chrysocolla indicates a high copper content. Notice that some relic chalcocite in the cores of chrysocolla in some of the very thin quartz veins.
