PACKING CHECKLIST
Travel Gear Pack light; space is very limited as we will be traveling in two vans. You may be able to do laundry on the trip. Bring soft, squishable luggage; duffle bags are required (NO hard-sided luggage). Excess
baggage may have to be left at our departure point hotel. Leave
room to bring back rocks for yourselves.
Required:
- Steel-toe boots; required at mines
- field / hiking boots; for our field days
- long sleeve shirts and pants: good mine wear required in mines

hard hat: you must bring a hard hat for your use
- nice outfit for company-hosted dinners

bright orange, green or red reflective "safety" vest: can be obained at local hardware or similar store for as little as USD4.00 (on the internet check "surveyors vest", or "safety vest") photo
Recommended:
- personal items, including prescription medications and insurance card
- wind breaker or light jacket (rain/snow possible, sunny days likely)
- sunglasses / safety glasses
- sunscreen
- towel
Optional:
- short sleeve shirts
- alarm clock
- hat / cap
- gloves
Other
- Alternative photo identification (recommended, for acess to mines)
- Passport, (recomended, make extra copies of first page of passport with your photo)
- Cash & credit cards: MC, Visa, American Express, accepted everywhere; cash
or credit card for tourist items and meals. ATM's are common. Bring US currency, if possible; the only likely place of currency exchange will be the Reno airport (and the currencies served is limited).
- Proof of insurance
- Prescription medicine
- For underground mine tours - coveralls, hard hat, safety boots will be provided – bring cool comfortable clothes to wear under coveralls and bottle of water to take underground.
- Field trip reading material
- Field gear (handlens, field notebook, marker pens, pen, pencil, pencil magnet, hammer, sample bags)
- Personal address book
